Forensic Andrology
Forensic Andrology
Andrology is a branch of science concerned with the medical (endocrine and biological) or surgical (urological) study of any aspect of sexual disorders including sex disorders, as well as the basic and clinical aspects of the male reproductive system (pituitary, gonads, endocrine and accessory organs). Hormone relations effective in the control of the reproductive system, especially spermatozoa studies, are the subjects of the field of Andrology.
Spermatozoa examinations are of great importance in sex related offences. Both obtaining DNA from spermatozoa and examining the morphological status of spermatozoa according to the norms of the World Health Organization (WHO) evaluate a wide variety of cases. In this part of our laboratory, forensic service will be provided, and clinical examinations will also be performed within the scope of sperm function analyses.
