The Forensic Science Laboratory is an academic institution that is active in education, research, and training. It has been established in 2010 as a facility within Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University and is dynamically functioning since then.  Expert witnessing in various disciplines for both civil and criminal courts as well as for private applications is also within its operational activities.

Nationally and internationally recognized scientists are working all within their own capabilities to answer questions and solve cases related to forensic genetic testing, sexual assault investigation, clinical forensic medicine, forensic toxicology, document examination, forensic anthropology, criminalistics, forensic psychology/psychiatry and forensic andrology.

The FSL provides assistance 24/7 and engages in the critical research and development needs of the discipline. The academic establishment provides professional advancement for forensic scientists, law enforcement, legal professionals and the forensic science community in general.

It has been accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has also been the only INTERPOL accredited training center for legal medicine and crime scene investigation in Turkey.
